Lessons for beginners will mainly focus, but will not be exclusively, on grooming, cleaning and tacking up the horse for riding. If you have already been introduced to grooming, cleaning and tacking up and feel comfortable, please come 10-15 minutes before your lesson to get the horse ready for riding, if you have already been told by your instructor to do so. Be prepared to stay 5-10 minutes afterward to un-tack and put away your horse.
You should wear long pants (jeans are acceptable), close toed shoes (no slip on shoes) or boots with at least a 1/2 boot heel, and be ready to store any pocket-items (keys, wallets, cell phones) in a safe place *not* in your pants pocket. Your instructor can provide a safety helmet, but if you have your own, please make sure it's for horseback riding! Bike helmets do not provide adequate protection for horseback riding.
What To Expect: You will ride the same horse each lesson (if possible) so that you'll know exactly what that horse needs in terms of tack and preparation. This also will allow you to develop a bond with your school horse. We have horses for all levels of rider, each with their own specialties.
Students must be at least 5 years of age to start lessons. Beginner and intermediate levels of riders are welcomed. Riding disciplines include English and Western, with other styles in those disciplines, i.e., jumping, barrels, gymkhana, etc. All lessons are private one-on-one lessons. Cancellation Policy: You will be held financially responsible for cancellations made less than 4 hours before your scheduled lesson time. If you purchased a package, you will lose the lesson. If you have not purchased a package, you must pay your instructor 50% of the lesson price. We will use our best efforts to reschedule the canceled lesson but cannot guarantee any accommodation. Please remember -- if you don't show up for your lesson, your instructor still did. Your instructor still needs to be paid, and the horse still needs feed, veterinary and hoof care!

- SOLITUDE - (required from the months of June through November) a $15 monthly fee will be charged to any boarder who does not wish to provide this fly preventative on their own.
